Texas Conservation Corps works with our partners to provide an Individual Placement who serve the duration of their term at the partner site. During this time Texas Conservation Corps assists the partner with tools and resources to complete their project objectives, as well as manages  members time sheets and project reporting.

In order to facilitate a rewarding experience, TxCC works with the site to define measurable outcomes that the Individual Placement is able to fulfill.

Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park Individual Placements

TxCC’s Ranch & Resource Management program is based at the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park near Johnson City, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to help the park meet resource management goals like reducing the impact of invasive plants at the LBJ Ranch and meeting deferred maintenance goals through out the ranch. In addition the individual placement with learn first hand what goes into the management of a historic working ranch as part of an overall cultural landscape with significant natural resources.

Big Thicket National Preserve Individual Placements

The Texas Conservation Corps’ Youth Paddling Program Assistant will help promote the National Park Service’s mission by leading youth through canoeing and kayaking adventures in Big Thicket National Preserve. The program strives to invite a larger audience into public lands by eliminating traditional barriers of inclusion in a safe and supportive environment. 

The ideal candidate for this opportunity will be familiar with the water ways of east Texas and will be expected to engage with members of the community while helping to foster a positive experience with the outdoors and NPS staff. They will need to be able to swim and tread water.

Sabine National Forest Individual Placement

In partnership with the US Forest Service, TxCC will be placing a Forestry Technician AmeriCorps member at Sabine National Forest near Zavalla, Texas. This position will work alongside USFS Recreation Program staff to work in several recreation areas throughout the forest. This position will help manage trails, campgrounds, recreation areas, facilities, and the budget for the recreation program

The ideal candidate for this position would be from the Lufkin/Zavalla area and would have experience working on trail or outdoor recreation crews.

San Antonio Missions Individual Placements

TxCC’s Masonry and Environmental Conservation program is based in San Antonio and is an exciting opportunity to restore and preserve both interior and exterior surfaces of the Historic San Antonio Missions. These members work closely with NPS staff. With two AmeriCorps members in each of the following positions:

Masonry Positions – work on masonry projects, including re-pointing of mortar joints and stonework
Cultural Landscape Positions- perform vegetation removal and general park maintenance

Bessey Ranger District Nebraska National Forest Individual Placement

In partnership with the US Forest Service, TxCC will be placing a Resource Assistant at the Bessey Ranger District to assist with recreation & natural resources management and visitor services. The Visitor Information & Recreation Specialist will develop and present a variety of interpretive programs. In addition to presenting to visitors this position would contribute to the development of written materials to increase the understanding of the Forest Service Mission.

The ideal candidate for this position would have a general knowledge of natural resource management and conservation related to visitor management. Strong oral and written communication skills and a desire to engage diverse audiences and school groups. This is a position where use of creativity and initiative is encouraged.
