2023 Highlights

Founded in 1975, American YouthWorks connects young adults with equitable access to education, paid career training, and supportive services through our Conservation Corps and YouthBuild programs. Participants learn new job skills, earn industry certifications, and build a personal and professional network while serving the community. In 2023, participants earned 350 industry certifications and 41 High School Diplomas or GEDs.

Participant career training projects address community issues:

YouthBuild participants following the Media Corps training pathway help recycle and reuse technology equipment that is distributed out to public computer labs and donated out to low-income communities. In 2023, participants earned 24 IC3 Certifications.

Homelessness

4 micro homes built for our unhoused neighbors

While learning construction job skills, YouthBuild participants following the Casa Verde Builders training pathway build micro-homes at Community First! Village, a development of Mobile Loaves and Fishes, for people experiencing homelessness.

Access to Healthcare

12 public health events for low income communities

YouthBuild participants following the Health Corps training pathway gain practical experience while addressing health disparities in the community by organizing blood donation events, volunteering with local care providers, and assisting with health screenings at health fairs in underserved communities. In 2023, participants earned 17 Community Health Worker Certifications and 2 Medical Translator Certifications.

Disaster Response

Assisted 50 homes after 2 floods and 5 storms

Conservation Projects

167 trees planted & 1,287 acres of habitat restored
