At American YouthWorks, we value our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for all program members, staff, volunteers, and visitors.

Below are community guidelines to create a clear understanding regarding expectations and interactions on American YouthWorks campuses and project sites.

1. Respecting member and staff pronouns and preferred names
2. Consent must be requested and granted before any physical contact is to occur, such as hugs or repositioning shoulders for a photo
3. Visits affecting regularly scheduled activities need to be communicated and planned in advance
4. Consideration of members experience and their story with respect and sensitivity
5. Visitor use of appropriate personal protective equipment when with participants in the field
