Youth crew members

Summer Youth Crews

This program position is open to current high school students and recent high school graduates looking to spend a summer working on conservation projects throughout Texas. Members will work on trail improvement and habitat restoration projects led by two adult Crew Leaders. Opportunities for travel and camping will be provided. Crews will focus on building conservation skills and engaging in environmental education. The program works in partnership with several agencies and organizations dedicated to serving youth and the environment.

Looking for more than an 8-week experience? Summer enrollments can extend to longer terms!

Summer Youth Crew Members: Ages 17-21
Austin, San Antonio, and Tribal Nations: June 6 – August 5, 2022
Houston: June 13 – August 12, 2022

Qualifications – Must Have

  • Between the ages of 17-21
  • Ability to have transportation to and from American YouthWorks locations
  • US Citizenship or lawful permanent US Resident
  • Commitment to completing the entire term of service
  • Strong service ethic and desire to serve the community and the environment
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people
  • Willingness to work long, hard hours in all weather conditions; ability to be away on one overnight trip at the end of their term (up to 7 days, dates and location TBD)
