Summer Youth Crews

This program is for current high school students and recent high school graduates to spend a summer working on conservation projects throughout the City of Houston and Harris County. Members will work on trail improvement and habitat restoration projects led by two adult Crew Leaders. Opportunities for travel and camping will be provided. Crews will focus on building conservation skills and engaging in environmental education. The program works in partnership with several agencies and organizations dedicated to serving youth and the environment.

  • $1,398 per month living stipend

Qualifications – Must Have

  • Between the ages of 17-21
  • Ability to have transportation to and from American YouthWorks in East Houston, Monday through Friday
  • US Citizenship or lawful permanent US Resident
  • Commitment to completing the entire term of service
  • Strong service ethic and desire to serve the community and the environment
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people
  • Willingness to work long, hard hours in all weather conditions; ability to be away on one overnight trip at the end of their term (up to 7 days, dates and location TBD)
