What is your name and position at AYW?

Rubén Cantú, Board Chair

How long have you been working with AYW?

6 years

As a Board Member, what have you learned or what has been your experience at AYW?

I have learned to lead a board that has many different talents, priorities, and perspectives and help ensure we are moving in one direction.

How has AYW changed since you started as a Board Member?

It has grown from a state wide organization to an interstate organization and has increased staff and capacity. It also has adopted a more inclusive and diverse culture and created a space for innovation to thrive.

What is a hobby or interest you’d like to share?

I love exploring nature and the outdoors and having an organization like AYW that promotes this is amazing.

Anything else to share with our audience?

We all have the capacity to help in a small way, we all have diff gifts and talents and resources. When we bring them together we can move mountains. AYW is a mountain that was once a dream. Our hope is that we can sustain this movement of a mountain moving into our next fifty years.
