Louisiana Conservation Corps (LaCC) is a 21st Century Conservation Service Corps accredited program that empowers young people through AmeriCorps service, conservation, education, and jobs training. Participants engage in hands-on projects on public lands, coastal regions, and disaster areas.
We recruit people who have a passion for the environment and working outdoors, and an interest in gaining new skill sets and experiences – no experience is required to join our program. Participants engage in hands-on projects on public lands, coastal regions, and disaster areas throughout the natural landscapes of Louisiana and surrounding states.
Louisiana Conservation Corps (LaCC) empowers young adults through conservation, education, service, and jobs training. Program participants will respond to state disasters, as well as federally declared national disasters. When not deployed, our participants can expect to complete projects for state, federal, municipal and non-profit land managers including: Kisatchie National Forest, Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries, Louisiana State Parks, and National Park Service.
Crew members participate in leadership training. They learn the value of teamwork while helping others and improving the environment. LaCC hosts AmeriCorps members, ages 18-28, from across the U.S. Participants come together for a once-in-a-lifetime experience to learn new job skills, develop leadership qualities, and serve their community.
Members work between 300 and 1700 service hours (averaging 30-40 hours per week), and receive ongoing training by LaCC staff and partnering agencies.
Benefits include a Monthly Living Stipend, Education Award, Student Loan Deferment, and Health Insurance
LACC provides trained crews to help accomplish your conservation project needs and provides young adults opportunities to learn about land management issues and challenges.
For more than twenty years, American YouthWorks has provided a valuable workforce to partnering agencies such as: the US Forest Service, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Bureau Of Reclamation, and many other public and private entities.
